Open Minds Music provides the perfect start-up support for young singers and songwriters to showcase their original music, backed by a highly experienced house band.

After the first successful launch event "YOU SAW THEM FIRST! at Freo.Social", Open Minds Music is back with its second instalment of this entertaining music talent show. Three more emerging unsigned singers and songwriters have been selected to play their original songs on stage to a live audience.

During this highly curated night, each artist will play three original songs and one cover backed by the highly professional Open Minds Band comprised of the combined of talents of Gordon Cant (keys) , Dan Ablett(drums) and Sam Timmerman (bass).

The night will also feature a very special guest artist - ABBE MAY - who cannot wait to play and bring her energy and talent to what's becoming Perth's leading music venue - Freo.Social. The night will also feature an MC who will introduce the artists, keep the vibes flowing but especially keep you entertained. Come down to Freo.Social Wednesday 22 May 2019, support these exciting new artists and experience an immersive night of music and entertainment.   ABBE MAY BIO:   Abbe May spent her late teens and early twenties performing in Australia's most notorious rock venues and busted up studios, touring relentlessly in unreliable tour vans in various solo and band incarnations. With sly humour, Abbe graduated from her critically acclaimed early explorations of rock and blues to become a guitar-slinging, beat-driven, iconic performer with an atmospheric cocktail of sexy, indie riff-rock, gospel, soul and electronica.

Abbe is one of the strong women of the Australian music industry with much respect across radio, blogs and venues around the country. She is an ARIA, WAM, AIR, AMP winning and nominated artist, the hand-picked guitarist for Peter Garrett's Alter Egos and a champion of the LGBTQIA+ community. A constantly evolving artist, she has performed at a myriad of summer music festivals including Big Day Out, Meredith, and Pyramid, and supported Neneh Cherry, The Black Keys, Midnight Oil, The Motels, Art V's Science, Tim Rogers, Adalita, Magic Dirt, Emiliana Torrini, Killing Heidi, You Am I, Peter Garrett, Bob Log III, Kim Salmon, Dave Graney and Claire Moore.

Abbe has had huge success with 'Design Desire' in 2012, and 'Kiss My Apocalypse' in 2013. Associated singles Mammalian Locomotion, Taurus Chorus, Design Desire, Karmageddon, and T.R.O.U.B.L.E were huge hits after all being added to high rotation on Triple J. Her Like A Version of Ginuwine's Pony is still widely considered a classic. Several of her songs have been used in worldwide marketing campaigns for Jagermeister as well as featuring in HBO's Entourage and Jane Campion's Top Of The Lake.

Abbe is known as a phenomenal singer, songwriter and guitarist, a poetic, insightful, hard-hitting lyricist, performer and visual artist who harnesses and openly expresses her sexuality without shame. She spent the past four years creating her fifth studio album "FRUIT", released on February 2, 2018, and it is her most succinct and powerful declaration of identity yet. A melodic, upbeat and soulful collection of songs made to honour the lives of those who don't quite know how to stand in line
