Adelaide seems to be quite the breeding ground for insanely talented musicians all right! One artist who comes to mind is rapper Allday.

Since his first album release in 2014, Allday has had a huge influence on the Aussie hip hop scene, producing tracks that challenge traditional hip hop, blending melodic rap with unique hypnotic rhythms.

His most recent album 'Starry Night Over the Phone', which features a bunch of amazing Aussie artists including The Veronicas, Lonelyspeck and Japanese Wallpaper, has certainly solidified his standing in the scene, as well as highlighting his personal and artistic growth.

Allday takes his third studio album on tour this month with support from amazing Australian artists Mallrat, E^ST and JXN. We sent the rapper some questions to get the low down on the tour and the new album.

Congrats on your latest album 'Starry Night Over The Phone'! I'm a particularly big fan of the track 'Restless' that features The Veronicas. What was it like working with the sisters on this track?

Thank you kindly.  It happened quite naturally. They came around to our studio, I played it to them and they sang it. Took about 20 minutes. They're very sweet, fun people.

Japanese Wallpaper is also featured on the track 'Don't Wanna Push You Away Anymore'. Are there any other artists you worked closely on the album?

Lonelyspeck from Adelaide features on 'See You When I See you.' They're one of my favourite new artists. Simon Lam executive produced the whole album. A bunch of my friends really. I try to have people around whose company I enjoy.

You're heading on a national tour this month to celebrate the album. Can you walk us through your pre-show ritual?

Warm-up my voice with some YouTube videos, hug the band, stretch.

You'll also be joined by special guests Mallrat, E^ST & JXN. Have you had the opportunity to work alongside these artists before?

Yes, I have a few tracks with Mallrat. I also live with her. E^st is a friend too, JXN I'm just getting to know but I dig his music.

What artists have you found yourself drawing inspiration from recently?

I try not to draw from artists too directly. I think that's something that you do as a younger artist trying to find your way. It's better to notice a small detail about someone's art and apply it to your own work in a different way.

What are 10 tracks you can't get enough of right now?

Young Thug, J.Cole & Travis Scott - The London

Buffy Sainte-Marie - Timeless Love

Alex G - Hope

Tracy Chapman - Give Me One Reason

Lime Cordiale - Inappropriate Behaviour

The Verve - Sonnet

Thom Yorke - Dawn Chorus

Creedence Clearwater Revival - Effigy

Nancy Wilson - Elevator Beat

Dolly Parton - Here You Come Again

What's on the cards for the rest of the year?

More music. I'm feeling inspired to make my best work.
