'To me, Punk Rock is the freedom to create. Freedom to be successful. Freedom to not be successful. Freedom to be who you are. It's freedom'
Patti Smith and her Band conquered Bluesfest in 2017 and went on to win the Helpmann Award that year for Best International Contemporary Concert! Best-selling author, performance poet and visual artist, Patti Smith's list of artistic accomplishments don't end there. She is a Rock n' Roll Hall of Fame inductee, recipient of the Polar Music Prize, a Human Rights activist and holds the honour of 'Commandeur des Arts et des Lettres' from the French Ministry of Culture. This iconic punk rocker is coming back to Australia for one last time!
'You can dance in a hurricane but only if you stand in the eye'.
Three-time GRAMMY Award-winning singer, songwriter, performer and producer Brandi Carlile is currently in the midst of a landmark year following the release of her Grammy Award-winning album, 'By The Way I Forgive You'. Produced by Dave Cobb and Shooter Jennings and recorded at Nashville's historic RCA Studio A, the album includes ten new songs written by Carlile and longtime collaborators and bandmates Tim and Phil Hanseroth, including "The Joke." Of her breakthrough performance of the song on the 2019 live GRAMMY broadcast, The New York Times proclaimed, "Carlile's vocals were robust, rugged, full of sneer and hope. On a night curiously light on impressive singing, it was an uncomplicated, genuine, cleansing thrill," while the Los Angeles Times called it, "triumphant" and Rolling Stone described it as, "breathtaking."
We can't wait to see Brandi perform this live in Byron Bay this Easter!
'I'm not afraid to pat myself on the back and say what I'm good at. I like who I am. I'm proud of me.'
